Wimbledon School of English is an approved English language school for Bildungsurlaub 'Educational Leave' courses. 


What is Bildungsurlaub Educational Leave?

Educational Leave is time off to undertake a course of full-time studies for a minimum of two weeks.  Applications for this through Wimbledon School of English would mean a full-time course to improve your English language skills in all areas from speaking, writing, reading and listening; to pronunciation, grammar and vocabulary. 

Participants are required to be aged 18+.

What are Bildungsurlaub participating German states?

These courses can be taken by students from the following German states:


Course details

Participants are required to have a minimum B1 intermediate level of English.  

The course is intensive and consists of 30 lessons per week, including a minimum of 100 minutes of guided self-study.


The weekly course fee for all states is £403; for two weeks it is £806.
All students will be required to pay a one-off £60 registration fee and a one-off £40 materials fee.

Bildungsurlaub Timetable

The course consists of 30 lessons per week in total. Each lesson is 50 minutes.

It follows our regular 28-lesson intensive timetable (above) plus there is an extra 2 lessons (100 minutes) of guided self-study. 

Students can choose one of our Standard courses (24 lessons) + an options course (4 lessons)


WSE Holiday Dates

All students can start their course on any Monday throughout the year. Please note that some public holidays in the UK fall on a Monday in which case students will start their course on the Tuesday. 

Wimbledon School of English will close for the Christmas and New Year holidays on Friday 15th December 2023 and reopens on Tuesday 2nd January 2024.

The school closes for Christmas and New Year on Friday 20 December 2024 and re-opens on Monday 6th January 2025.

Please note that there is no reduction in the course fees where a course includes a public holiday.
