The United Kingdom has agreed a new deal with the European Union to re-join the Erasmus+ programme. Erasmus+ is a well-known programme that supports education, training and teacher development across Europe.
The UK left Erasmus+ after Brexit. However, the UK government has now confirmed that it will join Erasmus+ again from the 2027 to 2028 academic year.
This means that teachers and education staff in the UK will once again be able to apply for Erasmus+ funding to train, teach and work with partner schools and organisations in Europe.
Under the new agreement:
The UK will take part in Erasmus+ again from 2027 onwards
The UK government will pay a contribution to join the programme
A UK National Agency will be set up to manage Erasmus+ applications and funding
Teachers in the UK will have the same access to Erasmus+ opportunities as before 2021
More details about how to apply will be shared closer to 2027.

New ideas for teaching, language learning and classroom practice
These experiences help teachers improve their skills, gain international experience and bring new ideas back to their students.
Although Erasmus+ funding will officially return from 2027, this is very positive news for UK teachers and education providers.
Wimbledon School of English is following these developments closely and will support teachers and partners when Erasmus+ funding becomes available again.
